How to prepare your skin and care for it after waxing for the best results
Before Your Appointment
Hair Should Be at Least 1/4 Inch
For wax to grip the hair effectively, it needs to be at least 1/4 inch long (about the size of a grain of rice). If the hair is too short, waxing won't be as effective.
Skip Exfoliation the Day Before
Avoid exfoliating the area 24 hours before your appointment. Freshly exfoliated skin can be more sensitive and more prone to irritation during waxing.
Disclose Skincare Products You're Using
If you're currently using retinoids, AHAs, Accutane, or other prescription skincare products, let us know. These can make skin more reactive to waxing and may require us to reschedule or adjust our approach.
Avoid Caffeine Before Your Appointment
Caffeine can temporarily heighten skin sensitivity. If you're prone to discomfort, skipping your morning coffee before a waxing appointment can help.
After Your Appointment
Avoid Heat for 24 Hours
Stay away from hot showers, saunas, and direct sun exposure for 24 hours after waxing. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive and prone to irritation from heat.
Hold Off on Exfoliating for 48 Hours
Wait at least 48 hours before exfoliating the waxed area. After that window, gentle exfoliation helps prevent ingrown hairs by keeping follicles clear.
Apply a Soothing Product
A gentle, fragrance-free lotion or aloe vera can calm any redness or sensitivity after waxing. We can recommend products that work well for your skin type.
Schedule Every 3–4 Weeks
Regular waxing appointments every 3–4 weeks keep you consistently smooth and, over time, can reduce hair density and thickness.
